A well known hospital in Columbus, OH is currently in the pre-clinical stages of gene therapy research for SMARD, but we need YOUR help to raise about $1 million to keep them funded! Gene therapy aims to replace or correct the faulty IGHMBP2 gene and is a well documented treatment for this disease in animal models. The plan is to translate this promising data into a human clinical trial as early as 2020!
We are asking for 200 commitments to raise $1,000 before the end of the year- for a total of $200,000 – with 100% of the proceeds going directly to fund Gene Therapy program to treat SMARD1/CMT2S. These sweet faces deserve a shot at LIFE!!!
How you raise the money is up to you. Whether it is a run, a triathlon, a bake sale, a bowling event, a gala, a spaghetti dinner, the list of possibilities is endless. Make it fun, get your community involved. You can team up with others or fund raise yourself. Do you know a company that is willing to sponsor a commitment? We will post all corporate sponsors on this page for the entirety of this campaign! Can you raise $2,000? That would be amazing and would take the place of 2 commitments! We welcome any and all other organizations to join on board!
$200,000 seems like such a daunting task but it is a goal that is a achievable……. it will just take teamwork. We are not afraid of taking on the challenge and are determined to make this trial a reality. Are you ready to become one of THE 200?
